Gene Henson Scholarship Program, Deadline April 14

 Sponsored by The Atlanta Association of Legal Administrators

Award: $10,000

  • ● The candidate must be a citizen of the United States.
  • ● The candidate must be planning to attend a four-year college, university or specialized course of instruction within the State of Georgia, including private institutions.
  • ● Scholastic achievement in the current academic year and overall grade point average through high school.  A copy of the student's academic record and SAT scores are required.
  • ● List of extracurricular activities
  • ● Enumeration of community work.
  • ● A written essay by the candidate (750 words or less) describing the candidate’s thoughts and opinions on a current event happening either locally, nationally or internationally.  AALA would like the candidate to choose an event happening at this time and give their thoughts on the impact of this event as it is unfolding at this time and how they feel this event will impact the world five years from now.
  • ● A letter confirming that the student has been accepted and will be attending a higher learning institution the following Fall Semester.
  • ● A personal interview with members of the Scholarship Program Committee.
  • ● Financial need; annual household income will be considered.

2018 Kiwanis Club of North Georgia Scholarship, Deadline April 13

Award: Varies

Qualifications: 3.0 min GPA, Demonstrated Leadership, Community Service, Involvement in Extracurricular Activities & work history (if any).  Interviews will be scheduled on a first come, first serve basis as only 18 time slots are alloted.

Braselton Rotary Club Scholarship, Deadline April 15

Award: (2) $1,000 ($500/semester) renewable for 4 years

The Braselton Rotary Club, through its Scholarship Fund, is pleased to make Educational Scholarships available to graduating seniors from accredited public High Schools and private High Schools with a Braselton or Hoschton mailing address.   Recipients are selected on the basis of scholarship, leardership, community service and other demonstration of personal character, as well as financial need.  To be eligible, the applicant must be a United States Citizen, have a Braselton or Hoschton mailing address, and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4-point scale

Mill Creek High School PTSA Scholarship, Deadline April 16

Award: (6) $500 scholarships

Eligibility:  The applicant must be a member of the 2018 graduating class of Mill Creek;  must be a current PTSA member; must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (80% on a 4.0 scale); The applicant will attend a 2 or 4 year accredited college or university.
Application Checklist:
 Application signed by student and submitted to Ms. Vanderpool by APRIL 16, 2018
Acceptance letter
 Letter of reference from a teacher at Mill Creek High School
 A personal letter or recommendation (community member, employer, neighbor, clergy, non-relative)
Essay – (500 -1,500 words, 12pt font size, double-spaced)
An essay on “Advice I would give to my elementary self, now that I am graduating High

The eligibility requirements for this scholarship include: Must be graduating high school senior (in the state of Georgia); GPA of 2.5 greater; Be accepted to and prepared to attend an accredited university/college.  The application process includes: Submitting a High School Transcript; Submitting a 2 page essay answering the following question: What kind of positive impact do you hope to make in the world?

One boy and girl will be chosen as scholarship recipients. They will each receive $500. Then there will be 3 students selected to receive a new laptop. Students can submit applications until Friday, April

Minimum GPA: 2.5; open to ALL MCHS Seniors! 

MILL CREEK HIGH SCHOOL MISSION STATEMENT: By creating a culture of excellence through the development of character, academics, talents, leadership, and service, Mill Creek Hawks Strive to Overachieve through Accountability and Respect.

 Must submit a one page (2 page maximum) double spaced essay on one of the five characteristics/traits listed in the Mill Creek High School mission statement and how you exemplify this specific trait (see above underlined words in the mission statement). The essay should also include extracurricular and/or work activities that align with this characteristic as well as where you plan to attend college and what you plan to study or major in. Explain why you chose the program of study/degree and how your chosen characteristic from the Mill Creek Mission Statement will help you achieve your goals. Explain how the scholarship would help supplement your tuition or fees while in school.

Fort Daniel Elementary Scholarship, Deadline May 4

The Fort Daniel Scholarship Fund was established January 15, 2016. The mission of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to individuals who attended Fort Daniel Elementary and who demonstrate leadership throughout the school and community.

CRITERIA • Applicants must have attended Fort Daniel Elementary.  • Applicants must complete and submit a Scholarship Application by Friday, May 4, 2018.  • AWARD RECIPIENTS WILL BE EXPECTED TO PROVIDE A SHORT (5 MINUTE) KEY NOTE ADDRESS AT THE 5TH GRADE ‘GRADUATION’ WHERE THE AWARD WILL BE GIVEN.

David Skinner/Georgia Development Authority Scholarship, Due May 7

Award: $1,500

Eligibility:  The applicant must be a high school senior or not beyond the freshman year in college.  The applicant must have successfully passed their high school academic requirements and have college entrance exam scores qualifying their admission to an accredited Georgia College.  Applicant must be a Georgia resident and live in a rural county.  Applicant must be pursuing a degree directly related to agriculture.

Words of Comfort (WOC) Scholarship, Deadline May 18

Open to Male or Female African American students

Words of Comfort Ministries, Inc. (WOC) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization.  Through its scholarship fund, WOC provides financial assistance to an outstanding male or female African-American students residing in the United States who plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university of their choice within the US.  In addition to excelling in the classroom, these individuals are leaders in the community who exemplify the values of volunteerism and service.




 Earn scholarship dollars for good grades and achievements. 

On students, as early as 9th grade, are able to earn scholarship money from 140 partner colleges for academic and extracurricular achievements before they apply.  These bite-sized scholarships are called micro-scholarships and they add up quick!

When students add achievements to their Portfolio on, they earn Micro-Scholarships from the partner colleges that they are following.  These achievements include good grades, participating in clubs, playing on a sports team, volunteering,visiting a college campus, and much more. Students can also include AP or IB courses, honors classes, and college-level courses.
